Going to Spain in a couple of weeks and have booked my bike on with easy jet

I have a bike bag, will pack it carefully with lots of padding, skewers out etc.

I'll turn up in plenty of time to check it in

anything else I need to do please?

thanks

  • Don't sit in a window seat on the plane otherwise you might see the baggage 'handlers' at work. I made this mistake coming back from France and nearly had a heart attack.

  • Be VERY careful with your weight limit - they tried to charge me nearly £70 excess baggage at Liverpool airport going to the tour this year...

Spread out any heavy items between your hold baggage and hand luggage, but remember not to include anything remotely suspicous in your hand luggage - I got about 30 quids worth of tools and energy powders confiscated ;-(

HI, I'm thinking of doing similar in three weeks, how much do they charge nowadays ?
I went a few years ago and thought i'd packed well, the handlers still managed to scratch the paintwork.
I think you also need to protect the frame from any tools or similar objects within the bag, for when they chuck them everything moves inside.
I once read about placing copper pipe [water] insulation around the frame. ok if you've got round profile tubing.
I'd also agree with the other reply about the window seat as you would think it was an olympic throwing event,
Where are you going in spain ?
Also don't forget your EPO to get up those mountains,
    cheers, scurry
