Noisy Fork

Hi Folks,
Sorry for being a bit thick, I have only recently bought a Rockhopper Comp with the RS Recon fork and to date have had no problems, however last night when coming down a trail I noticed that when I hit a particularly deep rut/bump that a skwelching noise came from the fork.
The only things done differently have been a tweak to the rebound speed before I started. Anyway, when I got back to the car I turned the rebound know a faster setting and this has reduced the skwelching noise but not removed the noise.
Are my forks knackered?
Incidetally, the bike has been jet washed twice for less than a minute and I made sure that the bike was upside down and that I did not spray the top of the fork or the BB area.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Alan

Got a pair of Revelations (same innards as Recons) and they've always made a schwelching sound. I always assumed its just the damper slowing the forks down and doing its job. Gets louder as I decrease the rebound speed aswel.
I doubt its anything worth worrying about.0 -
the noise is just the oil going through the valves. IE. working."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
