my wife is thinking of getting a new bike through the governments bike to work scheme and is limited to Edinbrugh Cycles, although they say they can order in most bikes she has seen the trance 3 and likes it, she wans something with suspension for comfort and a bit of of roading with the kids occasionally, are they any good?
She has been told the 2008 is out soon and is suppose to look nicer (she says its a female thing and it has to look nice also) and is suppose to have revised geometry and back suspension mount placing? As Im new to this id wondered if anyone had any thoughts about quality of trance 3 and possibly waiting for new model, cheers in advance

It sounds like your wife will be spending most of her riding time on smoother trails and roads with the odd foray off road proper.
If this is the case then she would be far better off with a hard tail bike. She will find that the Trance carries lots more weight and suspension action than is neccessary unless she's going to be attacking rougher terrain.
Look at the Giant XTC 3.5 `or the Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo. These would be more appropriate and save a few bob.0 -
