Which raod shoes for shallow feet?

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this one. I have relatively large (12 or 47) feet and find with most shoes (off bike too) that the toe box seems to get deeper as the shoe gets longer (in much the same way that Xl tops/shorts which fit my chest/legs assume an equally corpulant waist), so does anyone have any advice?
I've tried some Specialized, Nike and Diadora and all seemed to have far too much room above my toes - I could pack out the space with insoles but assume that this isn't ideal (much like my feet which could probably equally be called fillpers :oops: ). I'll definitely be trying on shoes before i buy but any advice that might narrow my search would be appreciated
