I'm a returnee to MTB and am thinking of a coast to coast. Is there 2? As I saw a Hadrians Wall trail, whereas the other goes from Whitehaven to Robins Hood Bay, or am I imagining it? Has anyone tried both? opinions?

I think this is the one you mean:

It's often referred to as the Woodcock C2C.

Ask on singletrackworld.com if you need more info - a number of people on there have done it.
  • Hiya,

There are several coast to coast options, of which the C2C and Hadrians route are just two options. There is also the Reivers route - which apparently has more offroad sections. Here are some websites about each of these

    Reivers: http://www.reivers-guide.co.uk/
    C2C: http://www.c2c-guide.co.uk/index.htm
    Hadrians: http://www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway/
    Walney to wear: http://www.cyclingw2w.info/

I'm planning to do the C2C one way, returning via the Reivers later this summer.

did the reivers and the c2c last summer. As yer man says the reivers has several sections throgh fields, rough tracks and kielder forest which are pretty hard on a touring bike like mine.the c2c has sections where you have a choice of road or off road sections depending on which you prefer.both rides have steep hilly sections but you will no doubt expect that from this part of the country.I have ridden on parts of the hadrian cycleway as it passes through my turff.seems an easier ride than the first two. Havnt done walney to wear yet but it was test ridden in cycling plus a while ago and looka a good tour from their article.
