Changing a tyre - Youtube

Being a newbie I thought I'd look for guidance on changing a rear tyre (cogs and everything make me think it more complex)

    I don't know if the guy in the second video finished explaining it – I got bored watching – but the reason you put the inner tube in the tyre matching the valve (what he called the "stem") to the branding on the side wall of the tyre, is to make it quicker to locate the puncture hole in the inner tube or the bit of glass/flint/thorn in the tyre – once you have found one you can more rapidly locate the other since both will be the same approximate distance from the inner tube valve / tyre branding point.
