Specialized Stumpjumper FSR or FSR XC ??

Ok, I'm in the market for my first FS, have been riding hard-tail for years. I bike all over the UK with the most strenuous stuff being the occasional visit to the Lakes and N Wales, I prefer single-track so am mainly looking for a XC bike.
I had almost made the decision to go for the Specialized FSR XC Comp, have had a demo ride and loved it. But was wondering whether I should consider paying the extra and going for the Stumpjumper FSR instead. What do people think? Will the FSR XC be ok for my needs or should I be opting for the Stumpjumper FSR. Been looking at so many sites and magazines that I am beginning to confuse myself, so some outside advice would be appreciated
cheers

The Stumpy is much better spec and with the price drops you should be able to pick one up in the region of £1200 now. Give it a test ride though just to make sure, higher price doesnt always make it feel better to ride.___________________________________________________________

I would definitely pay the extra and get the FSR. The XC is a budget full susser and compared to the FSR it really feels like it. I demoed both although it was a couple of years ago.
You won't regret the extra cash paid!0 -
I was going to buy the XC but also tried the Stumpy FSR Comp and loved it so bought one - no regrets. As above the spec is far better, the FSR has the M5 frame rather than the M4 on the XC, better brakes, better rear shock and fork etc etc.
Not sure where you live but my LBS is selling the Stumpy for £1369 cash, but as above the sales will kick in soon meaning you will get a good deal and so much more for your money.
I would also look at the ride to work scheme if your work will take part, I saved a bundle through this.
All I can say is test ride your favourite, but the Stumpy is a much better bike for a little extra.0 -
Thanks for that guys, all feedback appreciated. Looks like the Stumpjumper it is
Can anybody give me heads up on any good deals at the moment? All the ones I keep finding are sold out in my size (large)
cheers
