I'm sure someone will be along about full specs etc but while both being cross bikes the Tricross's drive train looks much more offroad, with it's MTB rear mech/cassette and tripple chainset it's going to have lower gearing, also good for loads. So it depends how you're gonna be using it.
The description on the Vapour for the brakes says A550 but shows cantilevers?0 -
I moved from a trek mtb to the tricross for use in a lejog ride earlier this year.
the large gear range was a definite plus for going up steep hills but still allowing a good cruising speed on the flat.
Use it for all my other commuting and general rides, with a w2w planned for next month.
in 3000+ miles not had any problems whatsoever.
'fraid can't add anything anbout the vapour0 -
Thanks for your comments. Here's what I was thinking - although the vapour is only a double chainset, all the mechs and shifters can accomodate triple - so is it possible to switch to a triple if I need to later? Any experience here would be gratefully received!

if its triple you're after, it's simpler and more cost effective to spec this from the start.
buyabikedirect (http://www.buyabikedirect.co.uk) have 07 tricross on offer with £100 off at the moment (£599)0 -
Hey peasoup - yeah, could be cheaper to spec, but I'm getting it through a cycle to work scheme, and have to use halfrauds, so no chance of getting anything specialist done there!
