What's the deal with the spacers. Both the rear wheel and the shimano 10 speed cassette come with spacers. Fitted with both my shifting is ever so slightly out of whack. Do I need to only fit one, both or more??

Any help would be appreciated...

You need to fit one, between the hub and casstte. The lockring should then snuggle down nicely. Very often, fine tuning to the gear range is required when changing wheels.

Actually you need both spacers. One is the mavic spacer that you need to use when using shimano cassettes (you wouldn't need it if you used the mavic cassettes but very few people actually do use them!). And shimnao provide a spacer with 10 speed cassetes as they are slightly narrower than 8 and 9 speed cassettes.

As said before there is slight differeces between wheels - event he same sort of wheel. Depending on the wheels you use you might be bale to use a thin washer somewhere to get the 2 to match up.
