Restoring a bike - old decals/stickers??
Guys,
I posted in the mtb section, but will do so here too, as perhaps more roadies have been resurrected?
I have a poorly 1991 Marin Palisades Trail, and intend to have the frame refurbed and repainted, which will mean I will need some new stickers.
I can see modern ones on ebay, but with the size of the chromo tubes, these will be too big, as well as being a modern font.
Don't suppose anyone knows where you might be able to get such a thing?
Wondered maybe if I could remove the existing ones in some kind of complete state, whether I could send them off somewhere to get some made up?
The people on here who have restored their bikes, what do you do for stickers/decals, or do you just leave the frame blank?
Thanks in advance.
Dan

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer directly? If you give them the frame number and some story about loving it so much and restoring to former glory etc etc they may help.Every winner has scars.0

Take a photo of them all, measure the length and height, then email them to me.
I may be able to copy them as a computer cut vinyl, or even match the font.

I tried that last year, and have tried it again - all I would need from them is some templates, and I could get them made up at my own expense, but alas, nothing yet.
Tried the US side, and the ATB sales side also.
Pete - many thanks for your generous offer, I don't have access to the bike quite yet, as it is in storage, with another Mairn and a specialized, but if we ever bloody exchange on a house we are trying to buy (Hopefully today, though was meant to be yesterday) then I should have it back by the beginning of next month, and can take the piccies.
Many thanks

May be worth trying http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage ... decals.htm - they specialise in vintage but also have modern makes. They responded to my query really quickly.0

try a local signwriter
when I used to race motorbikes I'd get stickers made up and he could match vitually any font, then laser cut them on his fancy printer.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
He said, "You should be riding a Fixie" I replied, "But, Dad, I'm 62 years old".0
