Hi all . Man is this forum strange compared to wmb one but i suppose i'll get used to it .
So anyway i've got a pair of 'spare' hope mono m4 brake levers (old style ones) and want them coloured gold (not payin 15quid each scandal ).
I got them took to a place that does anodising and they say the the finish they acheived was no good and they can't do them! I'm confused! I thought bein aluminium it would be a no brainer but am i wrong? Or is the place i took them to just rubbish?
So what sort of process does hope use to colour their kit as i might be able to get them done elsewhere for free :P .
Cheers and thanks in advance,
Scott.

Quality of aluminium affects the anodising quality - some will take better than others.
When Shimano dropped Deore DX (1992?) they moved to a lower grade of alu that meant that aftermarket anodising looked gash. I was told this by an anodising firm in York.0 -
Cheers for the info guys .
Hopefully i should be able to get them done for free through work, just suppose i'll have to find a decent firm to do em. Does anyone know the ally spec on hope mono m4 brake levers? Long shot i know but may help the whoever i get to do em let me know if they can well enough.
They're on a '06 whyte 46 if that helps? Also does anyone think i'm wastin my time? Is anybody as much of a tight ass as me and tried it to aviod paying extortionet prices?
Cheers to all who reply,

So i've got someone to anodise my levers but he says it would be a great help if i knew what grade of the aluminium they are. Anybody got any ideas?

How about asking Hope? I'm sure they'd know exactly what type/grade of alloy they spec'ed for your levers.0

Do what i did, and spend £40 on a set of dangerboys. Best upgrade i've ever bought, they make th brakes SOO much more responsive.0

Cheers red panda you must of read my mind, not long e-mailed hope so hopefully i should be the owner of some spangly gold levers to go with my spangly gold resevior caps and spangly gold pro 2 hubs 8) . All i have to do now is learn to ride my bike properly  .
Prob gonna sound stoopid but what are 'dangerboys'? Are they small stunt children you pay to ride your bike for you?"If i was a slug i don't think i could handle it, i'd just throw myself in the salt pot" -Karl pilkington
