Hi folks....i'm planning on returning to mountain biking after a couple of years off.....started biking years ago dabbed in a bit of DH racing back in the late nineties...and started trail riding around 5 years ago....i was mainly riding the Mendips and the south wales trail afan/cwncan etc etc
the last bike i owned was an Orange sub 5 which was a great bike just a little heavy on the climbs i felt.....i'm used to full suspension.....but after a ride on a specialized hardtail a few years back I'm thinking about buying a Hardtail frame and building a bike up oer the next few months of so (money permitting)
so the question is what should i go for, i'm 5'10" about 13 stone....i ideally want something which i can abuse a little on the downhill sections in south wales but still use to hammer up climbs
I did think that maybe a specialized stumpjumper might fit the bill......i'm on a limited budget so i have considered a used frame
any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

When you say Downhills in South Wales.
Are you talking about XC Downhills or Downhill Downhill?
If you think about Cwm Carn, you wouldn't be wanting to take a hardtail down the Downhill courses, but no probs with taking a hard tail around the Twrch XC Trail - I do!
Just checking you are thinking about the right bike for the right purpose.Craig Rogers0
