Lots of pics .... sorry 56k users ....
Well, got up, looked out the window to see not a cloud in the sky ... i'll take the bike to work this morning, and cause it was just soooooo nice, i decided to take the camera to show you guys down south in the cities, in the jams, fighting with the buses what yer missing out on.
So, onto the pictures.
Open the door ( i'm doing work on the kitchen ) to see the sun coming in ... oh its going to be a nice ride I think:
Get the bike out of the garage ... yes, it really is a mess like that all the time :
and head out on the open road leaving the town...it soon turns into single road after 1/2 a mile...
pass the first field of horses, dozing about in the morning sun. Megan ( standing ) and Ted (lying down) :
and soon reach the farm where I have to deal with the horses before carrying on.. This is what i have to deal with ... lovely presents ....
which is a full barrow full every morning!:
drag the big sleepy head ( Troy ) out of the stable and head off to the field with the other one ( Molly ) and put them out in the field...
Then jump back on the bike and carry on up the road to work...
Its basically a bike long slog up the hill . . .
just past the top, someone has decided that christmas has come early:
and then start the descent back down to Loch Thom ... you can see Ben Lomond in the background
When down at the loch, they are doing a ton of work to repair the old Greenock cut, which was the old water supply to the town. This is some of the new gates they have put in ...
Carry on a bit more and through the middle of a farm:
at this point, i have a choice, i could simple take the left route and carry on down the road which is sweeping fast corners and really good fun, OR, i could take the path that follows the cut .... its a nice day . . .which do you think i took? of course, just to rub it in,i took the right ...
pretty huh ?
I stopped numerous times to take in the view and take a few shots .... looked at the bike and realised i'd better make a move on to get there:
so, about a mile along the cut, i look to my left and see the factory below...
but i'm up here, and the factory is down there .... so how am I going to get down there? well the turn off is here. The path goes right and I go straight on:
Its a singletrack path made by the sheep and a few walkers and runs straight down the contours. Even though its a mountain bike frame, trying to brake with 1" slick tyres makes for a tricky descent.
Reach the railway line, jump over the gate onto the bridge over:
and reach work:
So there you go, my commute. not bad huh ? I took photos on the way home, which I'll put in another thread later ....

Wow, where did those bluy skys come from? It was so grey here today.0
-
blue skies come from putting the image together and tweaking the saturation amongst other things. but there really was no clouds.
Sorry Helz . . . you can only fit in a limited number of characters in the title field0 -
Pshaw, my commute to work along Dumbarton Road is far nicer, what with the....er....taxis and...em...buses and that.

I work for Lenovo in OB1 ... the office area near the main entrance.0 -
We've not been called dot.com in ages
I prefer cowshed to rabbit hutch, but there you go0 -
What no London bendy buses, no black cabs, no RLJer's, no potholes, no psycopathic chavs in souped up cars looking to take you out, no jaywalking pedestrians, no p1ssing rain, no motorcycle couriers using the bike lane etc etc
I don't call that a "commute" that's more like a beautiful relaxed sunny ride...oh hang on it is!!! Grrrr....17 years commuting up and down the King\'s Road and i still don\'t get faster...0 -
Ay, it a tough life yous leads...**************
Best advice I ever got was "better get a bike then"

I actually just moved up from London to Inverclyde for the reasons shown in your pictures and also to return to my native land.
I am fortunate enough to commute to work in the same area. My morning ride takes me right along the Clyde through Greenock with the views over to Helensburgh and the hills of Cowal behind it is a fantastic commute.
It beats the Central Line any day of the year.

Very pleasant. Where are the traffic jams to filter down....?
At least I don't have to muck out the horses on the way though.0
