Clipless Fall No. 2

So, I was rushing back to work at lunch time from dropping my car off and came to a set of traffic lights in the centre of bradford. Being in a rush instead of unclipping I just held onto the corner of a bus thinking it would easier and faster. While I was window shopping and generally just looking around, said bus took off as the lights went green and I did a half jump in the air in a trying to unclip panic then fell on my wrist and elbow. OUCH!. Won't be trying to hold onto buses again!.

What you do at this point is get up, look at imaginary camera crew somewhere in the near distance and shout in their general direction "Was that okay? Do you want me to do another take? No? Okay then, that's a wrap, I'll see you back at the studio..." get on your bike and ride away without a shred of embarassment...

Bad luck there, wrinkly - hope you're not too bruised...

I did something similar. I stopped at a light and lent on a post, which fell over and I followed.

Always an ego kill, but at least nobody knows you!
  • Noel PT - I've been felled by one of those bl00dy bendy post things too!

They sit there looking nice and stong, put a bit of weight on them and "Woooah" and your on the ground. It's a conspiracy by TfL - cameras pointing at these bendy or "Ninja Bollards", just waiting for cyclists to come along and lean...

lol, maybe I had my coffee too early this morn :D

LMAO, learn to trackstand and you will no longer have thes problems.
  • I am actually a specialist of "tracksits" - I couldn't get hold of trackstands, but found that I can balance out a whole 4 road lights sequence. Sometimes though I am lazy and go for the lean on road furnature option.

Did others find they had a 'good' and a 'bad' side when using SPDs?

I started on the MTB. Easy to unclip on the right, never found the left comfortable.
Had a couple of comedy dismounts, trying to stop with the right foot down, only for the bike to fall left.

Unclipped foot thro' the frame, on the floor, supporting all the weight, with the left still clipped was a good one to get out of!

Then when I started with the roady found it was the left I was predominantly using.??

I'm a leftie, so I'm generally more ambidextrous than most and it doesn't bother me which side I unclip... it's generally my left though due to road positioning
