It amazes me that all of the heat from the dive that got the penalty in the Chelsea - Liverpool game yesterday is on the referee. In the end it was a case of blatant cheating by the player, but for whatever reason that seems to have been forgotten. Yes, the referee missed it, but something should be done retrospectively about what the player did.

My view is and always has been that such cheating is as bad if not worse than taking drugs. Someone could take drugs but the benefit might not actually be enough to change the result of a game, but the sort of cheating seen yesterday can.

    Nope,

Do not agree, the player (imho as a Liverpool fan here) did not dive, as i saw it he saw Agger coming for the ball and jumped to save his ankles. It was not in any way a penalty, but one thing seals it for me, why if Malouda dived didn't he or none of his team mates appeal?

I'm not a huge Chelsea fan (in fact i wish Maureen would STFU) but in this case, they didn't cheat. The referee saw something that was not there and gave the penalty, whether for the headlines or because he genuinely thought it was a pen, it doesn't matter...it's done.

You can moan about it all you want, as far as I'm concerned its 2 points lost because the blues never looked like scoring. Simple fact is, these things even themselves out.....First game of last season....1 down to Sheff Utd....Gerrards 'dive', who gave the penalty.....yup you guessed it.

    The very same Mr. Styles.

    Ces't la vie!

I'm not seeing the correlation between diving and drugs here though. Drugs give a permanent and lasting advantage, they 'enhance' performance....diving is not an absolute advantage is it? After all it's still subject to the scrutiny of a referee, in which the diver can be punished before any advantage is gained, not caught after they win a stage 'if' they get tested at that time.

Stiles has always courted controversy. The guy's a joke. He's far too card happy. You see he's been dropped from next weeks matches.

Once saw a t-shirt on eBay that was in a style of a wild west wanted poster and had photo of Stiles on it with "wanted for crimes against football"
