Contaminated disc brake pads, and grip swap

I stupidly got mineral oil on the brake pads whilst attempting to assemble my girlfriend's box-fresh Trek 8000 (for spec, see: http://www.trekbike.co.uk/2007/bikes.ph ... D=0&ID=223), and my LBS tells me there's no option but to replace the pads at a cost of around £15.00 plus labour. Is it really so, or can they be resuscitated? (a stranger on an Orange Patriot told me holding them over a naked flame might work).
Thanks,
Paul

buy new pads.
people have tried many ways to save their oiled pads and they do not really bring the brakes back to their best ability."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

They are simple to replace, no need for a shop to do it for you.0

Many thanks.

The bike should have come with a set of instructions them: if not, enter the make into google and download a copy from the manufacturers website.0

What's the "grip swap" in the title all about then ? is there something you're not telling us ?

Marv: my original post had a question about removing the horrible Bontrager grips, but I've found a step-by-step on Park Tools. Useful site.2007 Trek 8500:

I keep a bottle of isopropyl alcohol handy for such jobs, also really useful for cleaning / degreasing. Available from chemists for around a fiver.
