I already own a Giant XTC sx 06 model. I would like to upgrade!
Now do i spend money on replacement parts etc or sell the above bike which has been fantastic and get something like the Giant Trance.
I do quite alot of off road riding.
thanks

Whats wrong with the bike you have? You need to identify areas in where you think its letting you down. usually upgrade time is when parts fail.0

Hi, the fork is one area for improvement also bits of the weight. To be honest i have always wanted a full suss bike. But i am aware that upgrading the existing would be cheaper.
I have loved the xtc.0 -
I think you have to weigh up whether selling the bike and getting a new one is better than upgrading what you have. decent fork like a Reba is 200, new wheelset always a good investment at say 100, then easily blow 200 on drivetrain. Then you look at some of the 800-1000 hardtails that have much of this kit already.
Ginat Trance is a great performer, but the budget ones will be a fair bit heavier than the XTC. One to test.0 -
Thanks.think that i would like to keep XTC and upgrade if honest. Where would be good places to start as i have been given masses of conflicting advice??0

Its a bike that has a good all round selection of components, but there are a couple of areas to look at. First is the fork - an RS Reba will save a pound in weight and will improve perfromance. Crank and bottom bracket not too hot, so LX here would be an improvement. Rest of the drivetrain is very good though. Wheels are also good for a bike of this price, while the brakes are average. Bars, stem and seatpost hide a bit of weight, but costly to replace and you wont notice 'performance' benefits as such.0
