I looking to spend £200 ish.
What are the lightest but strongest wheels i can get that are also a bit more aero than my basic Alex rims?
Still thinking!

In all honesty you are asking for a lot from a £200 wheelset for a fairly heavy rider and you may have to trade things off a bit.

Are you running campag or shimano.

If you can go a bit higher I would say the campag Zondas would be a very good bet.

Within budget, racing 7s are a good bet.

Others will say handbuilts, though you may struggle to get much aero benefit from handbuilts (admittedly this will be fairly limited with any non-deep section rim).

    Thanks for the help.
Well my weight won't change lot.
Secondly I need wheels for Shimano.
Thirdly I could raise the budget a bit possibly to £300.
    What options then?
I see Planet X no longer have Reynolds Alta race wheels which I had seen mentioned on here in the past.
    Still thinking!

You can get fulcrum 5's for a good price - I'm using Aksiums and they've been fine - I weighed a steady 90kgs until the end of may, now 83kgs.

Second the Zonda's 18months plus of use no probs 89Kg's
  • A set of Harry Rowland handbuilt wonders, Open Pro rims and Ambrossio hubs. 3 years use including 2 x Tour of Flanders cobbles at 90 kgs +, very fast, better than Dura Ace Can't recommend them enough!

Another vote for Open Pro's. Have mine paired with Campag Centaur hubs. A couple of broken spokes is the only problem I have had with them in 5 or 6 years.

I'm around the 90kg mark [ok only on a really good day], and i've used a pair of Mavic Cosmos wheels for a few years now and they're still extremely true running.
Don't know if they still make them or if they fit your criteria but i can recommend them,
    hope this helps
