i am wanting to upgrade my spesh allez to use for winter and to train on.

it currently has shimano sora 8 speed gears, and i want to upgrade to 105.

will i be ok to keep my chainset and front derallier (sp) as sora? or will it not work with 105?

i wanting to keep the cost down as low as possible!!!

thanks

Don't know the answer to your question., but seems expensive to upgrade to 105 with new sti leversetc for a winter bike if all your getting is a couple of extra gears.Presume sora sti's in good working order. I use sora sti's on my winter bike and find it easier to change gear with the thumb type shifter than 105 levers if i have gloves on. Just a thought. 8)

I wouldn't upgrade to train on it in winter. If the roads are gritted - you need to clean the bike after every ride or you'll knacker things.

Personally I wouldn't change the gears unless they were not working. Go as cheap as you can for winter.

I agree with the above comments - my winter trainer has cast offs from other bikes on it, including 8-speed dt shifters! Save your money to spend on your nice bike, or to replace stuff in the spring.

Totally agree with the others - don't spend money upgrading a winter bike! Spend it on your best bike and move the leftovers downwards.

Sora are good for winter hacks because the buttons are easier with big gloves on.
