    Done...

I think this is starting to happen anyways... when I did my motorcylce licence I had to do the theory and hazard perception tests (I've been driving a car for over 10 years, so there were new to me) in the hazard perception clip it showed a cyclist pulling out and to get maximum points tou had to click when he looked over his shoulder

    it's not much but it's a start

  • I signed and forwarded it to some of my chums to sign!
  • There are too many times to count that I could say I have so nearly knocked off my bike. Either by a car, BUS, or lorry.
Last year in Cambridge at Addenbrooke's Hospital roundabout there was an incident where a female researcher on her way to work at Addenbrooke's was swept beneath a lorry and sadly to say despite all the attempts of the ambulance crew and medical staff she terribly lost the battle to live.
It's cases like this which make me sad and angry. As a car driver and previous motorcyclist I always looked out for people on foot or two wheels.
As a keen cyclist I now fear that we need to have Mirrors and extremely loud clothing and horns in order to be seen and heard.
It's ludicrous! I ask you what is the world coming to?
It should be compulsory for cyclists to wear helmets as I know for fact they acn save yourselves from some potetially Horrific degloving accidents. Don't risk ruining your charming good looks folks! Save yourselves and your kids. It's worth it.
Car drivers should be severely repremanded for accidnets envolving cyclists and shoul be adequately punished. Not like the terrible incident in this months Cycling Plus where 4 people sadly lost their lives. It's just not fair and terribly upsetting

Don't start that whole helmet debate thing again. There's no conclusive proof either way of helmet effectiveness.
  • georgiesgirl - as you are brand new here I'll warn you now, your helmet comment is shortly about to come under heavy and sustained fire!

    Personally I am pro-helmet, but also pro-choice.

There will be lots of figure quoting shortly about how helmets can be proven to either save or not somebody's life, which is why I feel that helmets should be based on an individuals choice up until the time that they can be proved to have a tangible benifit in a crash.

It took a fair few years for motorcycle helmets to reach that level, and I'm sure that we have a few more years left before cycle helmets, and funding dedicated for their R&D advance enough.

I allways wear a Snell rated helmet, be it on my motorbike or bicycle, taking them to be the safest available on the market.

But as for pretty face (thank you  :D ) but an open faced cycle helmet is not going to protect my face if things get really bad.

that actually made me laugh... at least get the diction right when trying to be snide, it just makes them look retarded and frankly surprising they're allowed behind the wheel

  • And the best thing is that even though they think they are crusading against the petition, each retarded comment like those brings the petition 1 step closer the to 200 votes it need to be sent to the pm. So they are actually helping!
