First post on here so if i am asking dump question let me know.
I have brought a second hand saracen mantra 1 and it has Tektro mechanical calipers fitted. the problem is that the front brake is not giving any stopping. i have no instruction on how to adjust them and this is my first time working on disk brakes. the pads have about 2.5mm of material left on each pad and just about touch the disk when the brake are pulled fully on!!
any advice would be much appreciated.

There should be an screw on the outside of the caliper on the wheel side, it'll have an allen key type head, tightening this will move the inside pad closer to the disk and should hopefully solve your problem. Adjusting the cable itself should also help too. If you search the forum I remember seeing a similar reply posted by 'supersonic' which gave far more detailed instructions but the above should be enough, just have a fiddle0
