Front mech question

I cleaned my bike today and took the back wheel off so i could give it a proper clean as well as clean the cassette. When i put it back on the front mech was grinding against the chain slightly, so i fiddled with the two screws and ended up losing the ability to change gear on the front. So i fiddled some more until it got back the ability to change gear again but its still grinding when its in certain gears on the front and back.
Is this normal?
Or should i fiddle some more?
Any advice as to how to get it perfect on every gear? (i have a triple if it makes any difference...)

Set the Low adjustment so chain does't quite touch the cage in small front chain ring / large sprocket.

Set the High adjustment so that chain doesn't quite rub on cage in large front chain ring / small sprocket.

At this stage you have set the limit of how far the derailleur will move across sideways. So you should be able to change to the lagerest and smallest chainring. To ensure accurate changing to the middle ring you nee to adjust the indexing by adjusting the cable tension.

If you have Shimano gears and need to know which are H/L adjustment screws or want more info, all shimano technical documents are available on the web.

I'm not an expert by any means but usually find help at the famous Park tools site. Try here:

(Hey I got that in before anyone else ! Must be because it's bucketing down here so I'm stuck in  )

    Hope it works for you.

Rememeber that running the chain big chainring to big sprocket and small chainring to small sprocket are a no no due to the chain being out of alignment.
