Loss of compression dampaning on 888's

Just stripped down my 888 rc's today, cleaned them out (the amount of gunk inside was crazy), and put them back together with some fresh oil. Problem is, there is no compression dampaning anymore, it just doesn't work. The dampaning is fully off no matter how many turns you add to the knob.

Used the correct oil, put the right amount in. Anyone any ideas what the problem could be? Thought I'd ask around a bit first before forking out on a new damper.

Did you fill the cartridge with oil ?

Are you sure you cleaned all the rubbish out ?

Cleaned all the rubbish out. Didn't fill the dampers however, I assumed they just filled themselves, after a few compressions of the fork. The rebound cartridge seems to be working fine.

Undo the top bolts (as if you were stripping the forks). Let the forks compress, both springs and dampers should be exposed. Remove the springs and then pump the compression slowly, it should fill with oil.
