Hi all,

I have just had my new Merlin Malt 4 delivered and it's fantastic apart from my gears keep slipping and moving up a gear when I peddle hard. I have not had much experience fixing gears so any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

if they are moving from a smaller cog to a larger cog, turn the adjuster on the derailleur anti clockwise, a quarter turn at a time until it solves the problem.

if the chain is jumping from a bigger gear onto a smaller one, turn the adjuster (again one quarter turn at a time) anti clockwise.

in either case, do the turns, then ride the bike and try to change gear, if the problem persists, stop, adjust then ride again. keep doing this until the prob stops, be aware, only make small adjustments each time as too much will result in the problem getting worse.

U should lube the cables up whilst ur at it to further increase smoothness of changes.
