You got a gr8 bargain. Where did u get them from?
Learn on a Hardtail or be crap forever!
  • Evans - I had an old £50 credit note which I used (their store price £299 down from £410) - a lot of people don't like the orange - I think it's pretty cool! Was gonna get some Pikes but fell in love with these in the shop! :D

I hope they look good with the frame :?
  • (well disappointed) :(

Have had to return them as they are far too big for my frame, the travel is 10mm over (as I knew) but the actual size of them crown to axle etc is MASSIVE!

plus they looked far too out of place on the bike, shame they are a great set of burly forks and the retro styling is pretty damn cool.

Got my money back and am now looking at new ideas, so far I have:

    PIKE 426 U-turn

    RockShox Revelation Air U Turn

    Zocchi All mountain 2's

    Any other ideas?

    1. All mountain

    2. Up to 150mm travel (or if more= adjustable)

    £300 budget

    Cheers

i think pikes would be the answer, closely followed by marzocchi all mountains
Best quote ever (pinkbike): "i've heard that Hill pees, deffecates, vomits and masturbates before each race to keep the weight down"

i looked these up on evans website. they looked very cool. shame they had to go back.
  • Have just been looking at domain 318 U turn - 295.00

Adjustable travel, bit heavy but otherwise look pretty cool - if not I reckon pikes then...

Anyone had any experience with Domains?
  • Nightmare - almost everywhere (that I could think of online) in the UK is sold out of PIKES... Evans only have them in silver although it says different on their website...

But anaged to track some down and bought:

Rockshox Pike 426 w/PopLoc (thought I'd give it a go)

Should be hear by Monday (hopefully!)

    :D
  • Cheesey - just had exactly the same decision to make - was looking at the Bombers at Evans too.

My Pike 426 with Poploc (didn't give an arse about pop loc - was the only variant left for under £300 I could find in stock!) arrived yeasterday. Not sure if I will keep them though.

My concern is I may have to change the coil. SRAM recommends the standard Pike coil for riders upto 72kg. I am 82Kg and I'm concerned I'll have to lay out even more cash to get them feeling right.

The other problem is weight. Had Revelations before (4.2lbs) and these weigh in at 5.4lbs. Trouble is, not a lot else out there in that price range with 20mm axle...
  • Ben Frain, To be honest it's a bit of a dilemma - I don't do kilos but I can say that I way 14 stone!!! Hopefully not tooo much for the pikes! :?

everyone recommended pikes, the bombers were cool but just unsuitable, the £300 price bracket is a tough one, but I think the pikes are the best bet..... maybe :D
  • Well, I'm around 13 stone so according to the SRAM site the standard spring isn't for you either. :(
