Rapid Rise/Low -Normal

I need to replace the rear deraliuer on Orange EV04 2004, I think it is a normal mech (ie the spring takes the mech to the smallest/outer sprocket) am I right? Reading most guides Rapid Rise works better with Rapid fire shifters. Will it cause any problems if I change to Rapid Rise as I'm not sure what version my shifters are.

The more I try and getmy head round it the more I get confused or at least doubt myself...Aaaaah!

Shifters make no odds to function, either will work, though displays may be back to front. Its purely down to personal preferance.
