I am just building up the missus new bike and i have come across a shim in the headset pack. Whats it for?

Does it do down the steerer tube?

FSA headset/ carbon steerer tube, (it has a cone shaped nut that expands 4 pieces to grip the inside of the steerer) oh and its green! (the shim)

Thanks in advance.

It shims things that need shimming of course.

Converter shim for threadless headsets that are sold as compatible with both 1" and 1 1/8" steerer tubes?

  • If its a carbon steerer it may be an alloy strengthener that has to go into the steerer tube to provide extra support. One came with my forks.
