Spokes for Campag Proton Wheels
I recently broke a Proton spoke and was told by the bikeshop that these wheels are no longer listed. Also apparently any Campag spoke repair requires a minimum order size of 30 spokes.
Thus it seems Protons only came out for 2 or 3 years. Spokes spares aren't held. Manufacturers wheels are now widely promoted and sold but there isn't the service to back them up - ie non-standard non-available spokes are hard to useas replacements.
Cycling equipment suppliers have jump-started cycling into a hi-tec, short equipment life scenario but there is a significant downside of this for us the users.

I am interested in this thread as I have a pair of Proton Wheels, no broken spokes yet.
Is it possible to use something like a Sapim Laser spoke (looks very similar) as a direct replacement for the front and non drive side spokes. Also for the drive side would it be possible to cut the bend off the end of a laser spoke and have it threaded by a bike shop?
Anyone know if this is feasable?0 -
Have you tried contacting the official UK Campag service centre?

Another thought for you. It is possible that Proton drive side rear spokes are the same as Neutron drive side rear spokes.0

I bought a proton repair kit from Italian cycle products a couple of months ago. It contains 6 spokes. Cost about £18.0

Many thanks about italiancycleproducts link and I'm contacting them. Though the bike shop tried with their main source of campag spares (same firm?) and said they were on holiday currently.0
