I know you all love these sorts of questions - I ride mainly cross country but also enjoy a trip to the Alps each summer and often go to Cwmcarn. I'm not a 'freerider' I'm not a 'downhiller' I'm just an average mountainbiker - but I like tp know my bike can take a bit of stick when it needs too.

I've narrowed my choice of new forks for my Giant Reign down to the following:

Magura Wotan
Marzocchi 55 ATA
RS Pike 454 Dual Air

I like the Pike because of price and it always gets good reviews but I'm worried that the A2C will be a bit on the short side and drop the front end too much.
I like the Wotan a lot but the high weight concerns me.
I like the Marzopcchi but I've only seen them on sale at 'UK Bike Store' and the high price bothers me.

Would anyone want to try and sway me either way before I toss a coin?

Cheers

I'd go with the Pike. They are lovely forks, not quite as stiff as the others, or with as much travel ,but for every day XC they are the best choice out of those three. They wont flinch at a trip to the Alps either. No worries about the short ATC length, I've seen plenty Reign frames built up with a Pike fork before.

The Wotans are, as you say, too heavy and are total overkill for XC!

I'll see you at the end.

You'll see me on the floor.

Pikes are great, avoid Magura forks - very tricky to set up/adjust correctly.
