Hardtail for a Grand?

Hey Spiderman,
The Kula Primo is going for £1400 in Evans and a little cheaper elsewhere.
I rode the Kona on Monday, testing it at Evans Cycles. Although good, I felt quite hunched over the handlebars, and the brakes didnt seem great (HAyes), great weight and great spec though and loved the forks.
I also tried a specialised Stumpjumper on reduction, which had better brakes, Avid 7 but the forks seemed more wallowy (FOx).
I am gonna try an Orange P7 at the weekend and kinda pinning my hopes on that.
If not I may stick with my trusty Saracen Tufftrax Elite, just stuck some panaracer tyres on it and I have to admit I am impressed!0 -
I got a Specialized Stumpjumper HT Comp from Evans.
I think it was £1179
I think its awesome, and really light for a MTB, but I have not ridden many ultra high end machines.
Brakes and gears are spot on.The A6 Hazel Grove - "Always the worst part of any ride".0 -

Did they set up the fork for you? That could have an affect on the way the bike felt.
If you prefer something a bit more stretched out, have a look at the Zaskar or maybe a Trek 8000/8500
Might also be worth trying a higher end Giant XTC.Some very good deals available on Giants at the moment.2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
2017 Canondale Supersix Evo0 -
A quick update,
I tried an Orange P7 today and loved it! It has much the same feel as my current bike but is bang up to date!
Suprisingly light for a steel frame also!
Iam gonna wait until October before placing an order as speaking with Orange it would appear they are clean out of stock for the P7 frame and there is a slightly tweaked version ariving early October.
Different tubing and different drop outs!
However, anyone thinking of a hard tail for a grand or more, you gotta try this!
