I have stayed several times at the Cwellyn Arms camp site. It is right beside Snowdon, it's a basic campsite with a small but perfectly adequate shower block. The pub is about 1 mile away in the village, it does good food. It is situated in the valley right by a lake, very picturesque. Tents only, a welcome change from overly busy and more commercial sites. They welcome, even encourage real fires. As for taking bikes on trains, find details on the Ariva Wales website. A slight issue can be when going with a group you may be competing for the same 2 or 4 bike spaces on the trains - needs investigating. This is a useful site outlining both the rules and actual experience of bikes on trains with various companies. It says:Long-distance services carry two bicycles. Reservations were free on long distance services, and strongly recommended, but we have unconfirmed reports that ATW has now abandoned reservations altogether. As on local services, bicycles on long-distance trains are now thought to be carried free without booking, but conveyed 'subject to space being available'. However, Arriva has told us that the reservation system is still in place for long-distance services0
