Shimano Front & Rear Mech compatibility

Hi
I'm building up a winter bike, and have some parts off an older bike, and some spare parts to use.
Question is, will Ultegra Front & Rear Mech off the 9 speed gruppo(6500 I think) work with NEW 105 10 speed shifters ?
I understand that a 9 speed cassette is the same width as a 10 speed cassette (hence 10spd chain being even narrower than 9 spd), so would have thought the rear mech is OK, and coz front mech was made to handle a wider chain, should be ok with 10spd chain.
I will be using an Ultegra 10spd chainset, chain and cassette, with the 9spd front and rear mech, with the new 10spd STI's.
Looking for positive answers !!! (so I can save my money).
Cheers

The mechs will be fine. You are using the bits that matter, the Sti's, cassette and chain.0
