i have an old HL-RC230 with a big ass lead acid battery which i want to change to the stick shaped ones. only thing is i cant find any anywhere noone seems to stock cat eye spares just the bulbs.

were can i find one for a resonable price?
failing that i can make up a battery pack, i have 6 cell 7.2v 1400ah batt for an rc car which i can butcher into a 5 cell which would make it a 6v. but with this i have no idea what the /20hr 6v 4.2ah/20hr means.
so far i understand 6 volts. i have never seen 4.2ah/20hr marking how do i convert it to amp hours?

would be a bonus if i can increese the 1hr@ 20w run time

as you guessed i like to butcher 8)

ah is a rating of capacity. So at the specified voltage, 4.2 means that if 1amp is drawn, it will last 4.2 hours. 2amps you half it etc.

Could be the run time with a low amp, a charging time, I dunno! I would contact CatEye (Zyro)

thats what i thought but i have 8 AA cells rated at 1.2v 1300mah and 5 of them would make 6v 1300mah which means they would have a longer run time, which does not seem right since the stick battery is a lot fatter like they have C cells in them

bloody hell typeing that i just relised the aa cells are miliamp the cat eye batt is amp so the aa would give me 1.3ah

I made a 3W LED head unit for my old Cateye halogen, mounting the luxeon driver in the battery pack. It now runs at 120 lumens of pure white light for about 6hrs. (based on 4W ) but I rarely run it for longer than 3.5hrs, which means I never run the battery dry, and don't need the battery indicator.
As I understand it, it'll be good for 150 charge cycles, then I just go to Maplins, and get a new battery for £3.50.

The light cost me £20 to buy, the luxeon kit cost £26, and I get 3 times the light output and run time. (it used to run at 10W max for 1.2Hrs)

    I forgot to add it's a 6V 4.5ah battery, and I estimated 4W to account for inefficiency.
But it works for me for more than 3hrs without fail so far. (the prototype had connector issues though, that was scary!)
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
