List of hopefuls for my hard earned cash, help!

I've been looking at bikes and at the moment the following are the best bargains I've found:
Pinnacle Tent Peak 2 @ £1200
Trek Fuel EX 8 @ £1100
Trek Fuel EX 9 @ £1200
Gary Fisher Supercaliber 26" @ 900
Pinnacle Tent Peak 1 @ 900
All are 2007 models, I'd rather spend less than more. Should I spend over £1000? if so, which of the higher priced models should I go for and what will I get extra for my money?
I'll use the bike for general XC and atm have no plans to do suicidal velocity downhill runs or cliff jumps. The supercaliber looks fine for my needs and were it not for the insanely low bottom bracket which sits more than an inch lower on the bike than on the other models, i'd snap one up instantly. But then is it likely to be a problem?
Anyone have any better suggestions than the above?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

Trying them out is the next step. Personally I think the Treks are unbeatable value at the minute.0

Aye, unfortunately none of the LBS had em in stock (other than the pinnacles at evans) though the local evans said they'd have most by Wednesday, so will go look see.
Regarding the treks: true, but it's all extra cash. Esp. for the uber bargain EX 9.Fat bloke, on a nice-ish bike.0 -
Trek Fuel EX 8 and EX 9 are extremely good bikes, handling is beautiful and very light but can take alot of abuse.
I saw this the other day and it also has excellent spec and very good reviews, Great price too. Might be worth looking into.

Aye seen that one, a bit heavy though? Almost 30lbs and that's with tubeless tyres ... heh but I'll openly admit I know nothing ;-)Fat bloke, on a nice-ish bike.0 -
