just bought a new 10 speed block for my wheelset - put the cassette on the freewheel, but seem to be left with a single thin aluminium spacer from the cassette... any idea what this is for and where it could go?

  • That goes on first, without it the lock ring wont be able to properly tighten the cogs.

Isn't that spacer only for use when fitting a 10 speed Shimano cassette onto a 9 speed Shimano hub?

Having myself some brand new Mavic Aksium, an a 10 spd 105 cassette, you got to put the spacer first, all cogs and then the lock ring...

defo goes on first (I have 105 cassette no Shimano wheels), though was slightly confused when I needed swap it onto Fulcrum 3's when the spacer just won't fit on, but it all workd without it...
