Recommended LBSs around Hammersmith/Shepherd's Bush area
Evening, all.
I live in Kingston but do some Dr Bike stuff for a community organisation in Shepherd's Bush. People are always asking me to recommend an LBS in or around H/smith or Shep's Bush. I've seen consistently too many problems with bikes bought from or repaired by Action Bikes on the Uxbridge Road to want to recommend them, and Evans on Chiswick High Street are beyond the budgets of a lot of the bike owners I meet. There's Halford's there too, though they seem to be pretty hit and miss (mainly miss). Any other LBSs worth looking at? I've heard of Bonthrone Bikes, for example, but know nothing about them.
Cheers, Jon.

Bonethrone have closed and become SBR Sports (a tri store - but do sell bikes). They are at the Hammersmith end of Fulham Rd.Rich0

I can't think of many others in the area. There is Richmond Cycles (in Twickenham?) but that's a fair distance and some of their staff are awful.
Holdsworths in Putney? Putney Cycles?
Thinking about it, you are in a bit of a vacuum in She-Bu.0 -
If you are after repairs, The Bicycle Workshop in Notting Hill is very good but does not sell many bikes as it is JUST a workshop. It's on All Saints Road and does have a website. You will need to book ahead from experience, which is the one main downside.0

A vote for holdsworth here, not that far from Hammersmith, honest.0

Thanks for the feedback. As I suspected, it's a bit of a desert for decent bike shops around here. Oh well...

Woolsey of Acton on Acton Lane. I've not used them but I've heard other people speak well of them as an old-fashioned small bike shop. Mend-A-Bike are always worth recommending, although I can't remember where they are operating from these days. They were in Effie Road in Fulham but had moved to some arches whose name escapes me again.
Others in the area that might be worth checking are Day's on Dawes road - big stock of second hand stuff so I assume are fairly handy at fixing up stuff and Putney Cycles (is it still there?)0 -
Mend-a-Bike is located in the Arches off Munster Road, (in the section of Munster between Fulham Road and New King's Road). I've used them in the past and had good service.0
