Mavic Kysirium spacer query

Hi all

I'm having problems with lining up 1st gear on my Campag gear mech with these wheels, a mate of mine thought maybe I should have a spacer between the hub and the Cassette hence stopping the spokes fouling the rear mech. Is this the case as I have no spacer, he runs the same wheels but with a shimano groupset. All advice welcomed

    What's your exact problem, as a spacer is necessary for the shimano wheels 8-9 speed so the lock nut tightens sufficiently.

    Is the mech going too far into the spokes, or can you not adjust it enough to reach top ?

    Have you checked you don't have a bent hanger ?

    The problem is, if I try to line up the mech to 1st gear it starts to hit the spokes. I thought maybe if a spacer was required then i'd be able to line the mech up correctly without this problem. The hanger looks straight
