So i keep hearing this rumour of putting brake disks in the oven on a low heat to straighten them, is there any truth in this? Does it not soften the discs in the process?

what heat/ time to try??

Hmmm. I couldnt see why it would work, though might be wrong. Typical oven is about 200c... the rotor can get higher than that under braking.

    Don’t know if it works.

Generally if you just let metal cool down slowly it should be softer, if a metal is quenched (often in oil) it causes the bonds to form more quickly and generally it would be stronger however it would also be more brittle. With the temperatures your talking about in an oven though I don’t know how significant this effect would be.

When we wake up in the morning, we have two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream, or RIDE.

    The choice is yours...
