I'm trying to remove a centaur square taper BB and grease the threads to see if it cures an annoying creak -it's the model with the internal splines you use a cassette lockring too lbbt-5 to remove.

I've unscrewed the cup on the non drive side OK but not sure what to do next - I've fitted BBs in the past but I just can't remember - do I have to unscrew that other side and if so clockwise or anti clockwise - I've tried applying a bit of force in each direction but I don't want to start leaning on it in case I just tighten it up or worse still damage the frame.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Unscrewing a BS threaded BB is in the same direction of the BB spindle turns whilst pedalling - so anti-clock on the lefthand, non-drive and clockwise on the right, drive side. Seems to be contrary to what you'd expect, but remember, that the bearings are turning in the opposite direction and they are what exerts a tightening force on the cups.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Thanks, that worked.

Now can you tell me where I've put the tub of grease ?
