airborne warranty
can't believe whilst out riding yesterday the back end of my zepplin went very loose
stopped to see what was wrong and noticed the droput had detached from the frame on the drive side!!
it has basically cracked through the weld. the bike has only done about 3000 miles in the last three years and I bought it as Ti was supposed to last forever :-(
has anyone tried to use the airborne warranty now they have changed to van nicholas
photos to come later
cheers

Ah the Ti tube will(probably) last a lifetime, but welds ? Sometimes not I'm afraid.
The Airborne warrenty is I think now void as the comapny is now out of business. But...
contact Van Nicholas (google it) - he may do you a replacement frame for half price as he was the European disributor of Airborne.0 -
"Will my Airborne guarantee still be valid?
Yes. As an act of good faith, we will honour any Airborne frame warranty but only for five years from the date it was issued.
If your Airborne frame becomes defective within this time, you will be able to take advantage of Standard Van Nicholas warranty conditions (include link to general policy and material warranty details). You will have the opportunity to replace your Airborne frame with the latest, brand new Van Nicholas model with the nearest specification to your Airborne model. Of course, if your requirements have changed, you can always take the opportunity to upgrade to a different model if required, paying the difference and getting a better bike. It is our aim to get you back riding as soon as possible with a new bike, so we will work closely with our authorised dealers to rectify the situation."
That all comes from the Van Nicholas website, just a simple check on the Airborne FAQs was all it took.0 -
I found that link as well but was wondering if anyone had actually had to use it?

I've not had to use it but I can't see there being any problems if your frame is within the age range that they specify. As per the post above, speak to Van Nicholas and see what they say. It seems from the text that I quoted above that they will even arrange this through their dealers (such as Fatbirds in Hunstanton), saving you the time and expense of having to return the frame to Europe. This is of course all my opinion, Jan or someone else at Van Nich will be able to give you the bottom line.0
