Montane Velocity DT Waterproof Jacket

Anyone got one?

Or recommends?

Need waterproof, breathable (yes I know that’s moot, but be nice not to sweat too much on my slow dawdle into work), be seen be safable (cos need for commute), and pocket stuffable (to take on rides)

Pertex. Its the best water resistance to weight you're going to get. It'll stuff to something smaller than your fist so is ideal for jersey pockets.

I mountaineer as well as cycling and have a plethora of expensive, membrane waterproof jackets and I've only used one once on the bike. Even the most breathable gore tex/ eVent will leave you in an uncomfortable sweaty mess in all but the coldest conditions. I personally just use a good baselayer and get wet in the rain for my commutes. Dry off at work. Slap wet shorts/top on a radiator, take dry clothes in bag/ leave at work.

Should be noted that I treat my commute as exercise as a result my activity is high so I'm generating a lot of heat.

Gore Pac-lite. Light and waterproof. Breathable as well as long as you're not going like a train. Both the jacket and trousers fold into a pocket and have velcro fastners the can attach to the bike. They're expensive, but mine are still going strong after 4 years - previous jackets haven't lasted anywhere near as long - so, good value for money as far as I'm concerned.

I have the Montane Featherlite H2O, and I'm very happy with it.

Not any more I'm not!!! 13 miles in a downpour, and now I'm thinking that the H2O part is referring to how much water it can actually let in!!!! I apologies for recommending this!!!

Second Gore Tex PacLite, I've tried others but they fail too quick, my PacLite's have eventually failed too, but they last longer and they get replaced under the lifetime guarantee - they really stand by it.

I once had an ME packlite jacket that was the mutts nutts. Stuffed down to a rediculously small size. Thats the problem. Ended up losing the bloody thing after having it for a week. £200 notes down the pan. Magic!

If you want breathability above anything else, Paramo is the way to go. The Velez Smock would be best suited to cyling. Due to the nature of the material they are heavier than membrane jackets and can be quite warm though so might only be suitable for winter. Also, unlike membranes if it tears it can be repaired.
