Montane Velocity DT Waterproof Jacket

Anyone got one?

Or recommends?

Need waterproof, breathable (yes I know that’s moot, but be nice not to sweat too much on my slow dawdle into work), be seen be safable (cos need for commute), and pocket stuffable (to take on rides)

Gore jackets are excellent - tough, breathable, lightweight and fully water/wind proof depending on which one you go for. They are costly though. Try Evans, they do come up in the sale(s) sometimes.

    Endura are pretty good too.

  • Check out Raceface jackets from chain reaction cycles. I have an aquanout jacket its waterproof and has vents for breatherbility. When i used to commute my collegues who drove said they could see me happily reflecting away from quite a distance.

ChainReaction have Gore eVENT fabric jackets for sale with 40% off. I would seriously consider one of these...

Really? Thats quite surprising. eVent is one of Gore's main competitors. Would have thought all Gore jackets would use in house gore-tex?

Maybe Gore bought them out. One more step towards global domination!

Check out Raceface jackets ... aquanout jacket

I've got an AquaNot and it's nowhere near breathable enough for proper riding. It's not particularly waterproof either.

The eVent stuff gets good press - see www.singletrackworld.com forum

And the Gore Xenon is supposed to be good.

I use a Gore Phantom N2S - its only showerproof but my commute is quite short so its not a big handicap. But its perfectly breatable and very comfy to ride in.

CRC don't stock Gore stuff, according to their search engine. If you mean the Endura eVent then they are 10% off

Wiggle has them for 20% off

    see http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... 5360020521

    there's also this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=8951 which looks a good deal

  • I am in the process of looking for a new wind/water proof winter training jacket.

I tried emailing Groundeffect in New Zealand with a couple of questions but have heard nothing. Do they still trade?

Sorry, it was too early in the morning for me!

I meant Gill, not Gore. Sorry for any confusion.

  • I bought the Endura Convert a few weeks ago, which has a detachable arm/waterproof back section, enabling it to be a gillet plus a traditional jacket. Good high visibility, lightweight, reasonably breathable...

I agree its not the best jacket for full on riding but it is excellent for comutting especially on really rubbish or dark days. Granted its not going to fit in a pocket.
I never had any problems with the waterproofing on any of my raceface jackets i wonder if thats was a just a qualtiy/consistency problem?
