doh. I have no idea other than the 770 is the newer version, and so should be ever so slightly better?????(plus it looks better in the piccy)

ddoogie other post is different its compairing xt to a standard 1. iv choosen to go with xt but was wondering what was the difference0

The M770 is the new one to go with the 2008 XT groupset, looks a bit different but thats it..same weight...you will prob get a M760 on the cheap now that the new one is out. try Merlin Cyles, they are normally pretty cheap. Be sure to check you dont need new chainrings and a chain or you will have a nightmare with slipping gears.0
