london to brighton route

I was wondering if anyone had (or could tell me where to find) a detailed cycle route from london to brighton, preferably avoiding as many main roads as possible. I don't know if the charity london to brighton bike ride follows a quiet route or if there is a better one....?
I'd need something as detailed as possible, i.e. with actual street names, as I'm very prone to getting lost and as I'm gonna be doing the ride on my own, I really need to be 100% sure i'm going the right way!
Thanks for your help!

Get yourself over to http://www.bikely.com
Use Brighton as the search term it'll pull up plenty...
Here's the 2007 L2B route http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/2007-BHF-London-to-Brighton (uses google maps, so you can zoom in & out to your hearts content.

i did this route last tuesday, but from bow, not from crystal palace. worked out at around 70 miles and it was beautiful. there was one bit of road that was slightly busier, but we left before 8, so it was quiet, and it went through the ashdown forest anyway.
have to say, it was one of my best moments on a bicycle yet. it's got a slight detour up ditchling too, and you can see still see where someone wrote "pantani" on the road for the the last time the tour came to britain.
when were you thinking of doing it?

Was thinking of doing it in a couple of weeks.
How long did it take you?
What are the hills like? Is it mostly flat?
I did the london to cambridge charity ride a couple of weeks ago and found that fairly easy - just wondered how it compared (if anyone knows)0 -
it undulates, there's nothing really savage, perhaps apart from ditchling, which is quite steep and long, but depends on what your opinion of hills based on.
i went out today to kent and went up a few hills - toys and sundridge - there's nothing like that really.
it's a nice ride, lovely in fact.0 -
I would agree Ditchling doesn't seem as steep as Toys but can still hurt a bit, especially as it looks like you're getting to the top in three or four places before you actually do.
Main problem is probably that you will have 45 miles in your legs by the time you get there . . for us Sarf Lahdahners0 -
the bottom end after Ardingly's not much fun on your own; I'd recommend this

I've noticed a lot of riders doing the route every Sunday in the last few weeks.0 -

Can anyone confirm the London to Brighton route is signposted? I saw a few signs when around Surrey yesterday. If so what route does it take?0
