Hi
Can anyone recommend a merino wool cycling top, my early morning commute is starting to get chilli and I need something to keep me warm.

I got a top from these folks at Enduro6 which I'm really happy with:

Also Howies do merino well but at a higher price.[/url]0 -
I have quite a few of these, superfine merino, which I use as a first layer. All of mine are from Aust or NZ though, so that probably isn't gonna help you too much.
I HIGHLY recommend them, and wish I had more. They wick. They don't stink up. And.. you can even wear them when it's getting warmer. They wick so well you don't overheat.Commute - MASI Souville3 | Road/CX - MASI Speciale CX | Family - 80s ugly | Utility - Cargobike0 -
Here's one. These guys used to distribute in Aust now, but I think the local guy got over it. So it's MADE here, but I can't buy it! I have two LabGear merino tops, as well as their knicks. Inexpensive, but not 'cheap' IYKWIM. I'd still buy their gear if I could get it out here...

I can really recommend icebreaker stuff - just do a search on uk-based sites and there are a number of suppliers. They are quite pricy but absolutely brilliant and wear/wash amazingly well.www.cyclaid.org.uk

Swobo do a proper merino cycling jersey. Available from stif.co.uk. Downside is they are £80.0

Icebreaker are the mutts nuts. I have one that I use for winter running/cycling/mountaineering. Often its the only layer I'll need even when its really cold. The high neck is really handy too. Can't sing their praises highly enough.0 -
I have a Helly Hansen Prowool Lifa top which I wear in the winter months. Works great.0

Craghopper's merino zip top for about £25, crew neck about £18.
Just bought two zip tops - they're fab0 -

My experience, based on four items of Howies stuff, one Icebreakers, M&S socks and vest; The next to skin stuff works brilliantly, better than anything else I’ve tried. The mid and outer layers, although good offer no significant advantage over synthetics, certainly not enough to warrant spending twice as much.0

Baudman, long story but Lab-Gear has always been 100% Australian - since 2001. It went to the UK for a few years as we closed the local retail operation for a while and let Scott, our guy in the UK run things. Anyhoo, we are back on tap, made to order (almost bespoke), sold and shipped from Sydney to order with a rapidly growing line of kit - including a Trad cut 100% Merino Jersey.
