Contador unwelcome

The organisers of the Hamburg Cyclassics race have taken a stance on doping and told Discovery that Alberto Contador is unwelcome at the race due to his links with Operacion Puerto.

It's all a bit academic though isn't it? I'm sure I've read that he's not going to race again this season and, even if he were, the course in Hamburg doesn't really suit him.

A hollow gesture or a meaningful attempt to clean up the sport?

    No mention of Valv.Piti?

I think the German response to all of this has been bizarre. It's like they're not quite sure what to do so they just randomly do anything.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

An attempt by the organisers to placate sponsors and ensure the future of the race I'd imagine. A bit of an academic excercise, but understandible nonetheless.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

Since WADA decided to reopen the investigation on Contador, shouldn't he be put on hold by Disco anyways, according to the ProTour Code of Ethics?

i do find it amazing how having your initials in documents gets you locked out of races, yet having half your name and your moniker when you were on a team employing Fuentes (Valv.Piti) on the exact same papers brings up no questions, even less restrictions.
