Hi,
Anyone know of an online cycling route guide for London? Looking for a cycle friendly route from Epping to Oxford Circus.
Thanks in advance

  • Have a look at bikely.com, it's not just London, but it does have a lot of routes on it. You can also create your own.

Any London bike shop has the free TFL cycle maps

(You however need to be able to read a map very well in order to work out the route)
  • Sustran do a lovely route from Putney Bridge to Oxford, I think its a longish route but most of it was of traffic, done it years ago now sorry can not help more.

However it's idea of a cycleable route includes things like the Wandle Trail, which involves dismounting every hundred or so metres to negotiate many and varied deliberately placed obstacles  , and a section of fairly technical (for someone on a road bike at least) singletrack.
It is however good for finding the best combinations of bus tube and train to get you from A-B

  • You could try the Michelin site (www.viamichelin.com) which has a bike route option, which seems to work well. I've just used it to go across France and it worked fine. Limited to "only" 200 km though ;-) Regards, Harry.

I'd recommend the following - combination of routes I use. I've thrown in a bit of ST near Chingford which you can leave out if you want!

  • Regarding the Wandle Trail I have made a map here as it can be a but tricky to follow, for example the Singletrack you referred I assume is the section after Ravensbury Park and along the side of the Wandle towards Carshalton, this section is not supposed to be the route a cyclist takes
