New Road Bike - Any Suggestions

I am looking for a new road bike, up to the value of £1,400. So far I have settled on the Trek Madone 5.0 at £1,400 and the Specialised Roubaix Elite at £1,299.

I want to use the bike for fun (charity rides and sportifs) as well as cycle to work and back once or twice a week (40 mile round trip).

Which bike would you go for? Any other suggestions for the money.
