Are there any groups willing to take a new member into their XC fraternity?

My LBS (Rock & Road - St. Albans) have a group that cycle every wednesday evening but I think they are quite a bit fitter than me so I may struggle to keep up. I'm just wondering if there are any other groups of mid 20 - 30 yr olds in the area. If you take in a pub stop then all the better!

Hi there

I'm just up the road in Harpenden.My mate and I normally go out for a ride at least once a week,normally on a weekday evening.

I'm 37 and my mate is an old git at 44,so you should be able to keep up.

We've got a quite a few loops we know now,but generally ride around Ayot St Lawrence,Symondshyde woods,round the back of Nomansland and Wheathampstead.

Our route passes quite near several pubs,like the John Gilpin,Wicked Lady and Elephant and Castle,so pub stops can be accomadated!

Sometimes I ride over to St Albans,to meet my mate and we go from there,so we could meet up on route.

Where do you normally ride?

Whats Rock and Road like for service?I`ve been in there a couple of times,for a browse and got a quote for a wheel rebuild from them,recently.It was nearly more than the cost of a new wheel.

I normally try to do most work myself,but have used Addiktion in the past,tto do stuff like bleeding and setting up my brakes.

I'm out on the bike tonight,and will be trying a new route out up and around Kimpton and Codicote.
