Have you had a look at the Scandal by On-One? On-ones geometery is spot on- it shares the same with my 29er. And its now prob my fave bike- mines a SS as well.
The build as seen in this PIC
comes in at 22 lbs on my bathroom scales so not mega accurate- but still a light bike.
Well worth a look at the on one web site.0 -

Wow, lovely looking bike!
But... oh no... choice! The enemy of the indecisive :-)

Not so lovely at the moment, just been knocked off and the front wheel's fecked!
Cut and bruises to myself, got off lightly methinks!
Pics in sig of the damage.....
and here's the SCANDAL 29er just to tease you more!0 -
I'm still chasing insurance company of a bloke that wrote off my £1600 road bike... got damaged stuff (ipod, phone etc) replaced including bike but they won't pay for the lost earnings... yet. I'll get the buggers.
Would a 26" wheel have damaged so badly? I'm a bit dubious about the strength of 29ers' wheels.

No prob with the strngth of a 29er wheel. People say they are weaker as the spokes are longer..... but in real terms- I'm 17st have done small jumps, the ride to work is about 60-70 % off road. I havent put so much as a buckle in the wheel. Well until hit by a car anyway!
Providing you dont go hooning off 6ft drops then you'll have no issues!0 -
Oh dear. I seem to have ordered a Scandal.
My wife's going to cut off my balls.

Good on ya!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy the riding- you'l be able to do bigger drops if theres nothing to mash! Bit of a win, win situatioin!!!!!!!
Dont forget we need pics when it turns up!!!!!!!
What spec did you get? Sometimes wonder if I should of bought on instead of the satndard SS 29er..... I keep thinking about turning mine to a 1x9 set up........... argggh more money to spend.0 -
I gave Brant a price to work to and told him to put stuff on it that will "make me grin like an idiot". Looks like full XT, Ritchey carbon bars, PX Ti saddle, Nevegals, carbon 29er fork... still waiting for him to let me know the rest of the spec... I have to confess I'm salivating into my keyboard somewhat.
I've thought often about going 9-speed, I mean who needs 27 gears? I spend 99% of my time on the big one anyway. Also for my road bike, I am sure 10 is enough.
I think I may try 9 on my Carrie Fisher which is going to be relegated to 'spare' >sniff<

I found the same with Planet X -- service has been second to none, and actual people, with actual names, to deal with. It's a pleasure to give my business to outfits like that.
Delivery end of next week, all being well.

Yeah, a nice change being able to talk to someone higher up the food chain! Fed up with faceless minions of the bigger corps. if anything goes wrong.
It gets sorted out, but like you say, just lacking the personal touch.
I also get far too tempted with that priceshaggers website they run- been real bad for my wallet that has!0
